Star light, star bright...

I couldn't remember the last time I had seen a shooting star.  Somehow I have memories of seeing them regularly enough in the Wisconsin night sky while growing up, but maybe now that I am busy with my own family I don't take the time to look.

The Big Guy Lowe and I changed that last night.

The Perseid meteor shower is currently taking place and last night was supposed to be the peak.  So with blankets and pillows scattered across the back lawn, we laid in wait of the elusive streaks crossing the night sky...and we were not disappointed.

We only stayed outside for about an hour--from 11:30PM to 12:30AM, but that was enough time to see many beautiful shooting stars.  It was so peaceful as we quietly talked about things and then would excitedly point to the area we had just seen our latest meteor burn up while entering the Earth's atmosphere.

A wonderful close to a good day.

I have much to be grateful for...and I am grateful.
