A whole new world

Being the mother of boys there are some things that I will experience and some things that I most likely will never experience.  For the most part I am okay with this, even though the beautiful blessing dress that we bought the first time we went to Belgium (before we had children) is still new in the fun wrapping all stores package a customer's purchases in over there.  Sigh.

Yesterday was one of the new things that I will get to experience...a lot of!

The wonderful world of Scouting!

I made the trip into Portland to the Scouting offices/store and bought all of the necessary things needed for G to start.  I was shocked when my bill came out to just under $75.00!  It was worth it when he was all dressed and ready to go.
He had a great time.  I'm sure it helps that he has two amazing dads as his leaders!  We're excited to start down this new road!!  Love you G!

Growing up

Every day at 3:10pm you will find me just a short distance from our house waiting for G to get off the bus.

Well, we are growing up and things are changing a bit.  Our oldest has made a request that he be allowed to walk home on his own.  Hmmmmm.

I know the distance between the bus stop and our home is miniscule.

I know the neighbors on the way know us and could and would offer assistance if it was ever needed.

I know the bus driver knows our routine and wouldn't let G off if she was at all concerned.

So why does it make me nervous??

Like I said, we're growing up...and that includes me...I guess.

Here he comes!!
Home.  Whew!
Baby steps.  Mommy needs baby steps!

First Lacrosse game as a family!

A few years ago, The Big Guy Lowe was the head coach for King's Way Lacrosse.

He's a great coach, and the team was so disappointed when he determined that he wouldn't be able to take that much time out of his other responsibilities.  While he's been extremely busy in all areas of his life, he has tried to maintain his relationship with the team.

After the wonderful day of Lacrosse yesterday, The Big Guy Lowe was ecstatic when he found out King's Way had a home game that night!!  We knew what we were doing as a family!

I wish I would have taken more pictures.  It was the cutest thing watching each of the boys walk up to the game holding their sticks.  J even had his little stick!  We brought warm blankets and were bundled up.  I brought secret treats just in case the younger boys started to lose interest before the game ended.

We found our seats and immediately The Big Guy Lowe went to talk with some parents that he knew.  They immediately made room for him and started catching up.  It made me so happy to see him amongst all the families.  He is such a great coach and an even better example.  No, he's not perfect, but he is wonderful and I love him dearly!
It was getting dark pretty fast, but I tried to get a picture of him when he took J across the field to talk with the current head coach and team.
After being stopped by more parents and some returning players that he had coached, he spent the remainder of the game sharing the ins and outs of the game with G, who loved every minute of it!
Unfortunately, King's Way lost that game, but I don't think that either The Big Guy Lowe or G could have been any happier!  G decided that he really wants to play lacrosse and The Big Guy Lowe can't wait to coach him!

Goodbye Basketball!

We've had a fun time this season in Basketball.  Lots of great families that we've gotten to know better and G has really gotten good!!  Here are some pictures taken of him and the team.

Coach Scott and the team.
Crazy picture...kind of.  ;)

This final picture was taken during the end of the season party.  I was leading the boys in a simple "get their attention" game before we started.  Fun times!

Funny Boys

This year G has really enjoyed playing basketball.  He has some great friends on the team and they have some great parents too.  It's been a lot of fun.

Because we are opting to have one party at the end of both sessions of basketball this season, one of the sponsors needed proof that their name was on the jerseys.  These are the pictures of proof!

Cute boys!

Happy Eighth Birthday G!

Yahoo!  Today's the party!

This year G had decided his birthday would be all about basketball...and it was!  We invited 16 seven and eight year old boys to celebrate with us...and they did!
Everyone arrived on the Friday before G's birthday at 4:00PM.  We played inside games, had a treasure hunt that lead us out to a Basketball shooting game that is so big it can only fit in our garage, played basketball relays, broke a basketball pinata, had fun with presents, made sports necklaces, ate pizza and barely had time for basketball cupcakes!  Whew!  We had a great evening!

A few days later on G's actual birthday we were able to celebrate with family and friends.  We had all of our local family members and of course Sue and Gary were there too.  This year we also had Jacee and her kids for the celebrations!  Next time I'm going to need to ask someone else to take pictures...as I was somewhat neglecting those duties!!

Happy 8th Birthday G!  We love you so much!!

Soccer comes to an end!

This season G played for The Snakes once again.  We have a lot of fun with this team because not only is G friends with the other boys, but I am friends with the other moms.  :)  This year I also happened to volunteer to be the "Team Mom".

At the end of this fun season we had a great team party over at our home.  Earlier in the morning we met on the field for our last game.  To celebrate, the boys got all painted up!
Nice!

After a tough game we headed over to our house for the pizza party!  We started out with Coach Scott talking with all the boys and family members.  He has been a great coach and we so appreciate all the time he has put into this team!
Then trophies were handed out to each boy.
The the team "posed" for a team picture.  ;)
I'm sure I wasn't alone when I thought "What a relief " when it was all over...until next year.  :)
